Who needs to do labeling?

Different job functions may require different types of labeling machines. Here are a few examples.
(Keep in mind job duties vary and any example here may not apply in your facility.)

Maintenance In many cases a desktop, stand-alone label printer works well in a maintenance shop. It would be used for applications such as labeling facility equipment with maintenance information and instructions, labeling tools, and labeling maintenance shop equipment and vehicles. In some cases a portable machine may be appropriate, when the maintenance staff needs to do a significant amount of labeling at the work location.

Electricians and Instrument Technicians Electricians and instrument technicians typically have labeling requirements both in the shop and out in the facility. A handheld labeler is often the best choice for these applications.

Laboratory Technicians Labeling is typically needed in a variety of locations in the lab. A small, portable desktop or handheld labeler is a good choice for many laboratories.

Sales and Marketing Labels are used to make signs for conferences, trade shows, POP displays, to identify vehicles, and more. A desktop machine, capable of printing widths up to 4" works well in most cases.

Facility Management Requirements for facility labeling and signs vary greatly. However, typically a desktop labeler is the best option. If there is a need to make lettering for windows and glass doors, a machine that prints labels and makes cut vinyl lettering is the best option.

Office Office labeling requirements can usually be best met by a small desktop labeler that is also portable. It can be set up to be used at a centralized location, but if needed for a larger project it can be taken to an individual's work area.

Production Labeling products on a production line, or supplies and raw materials as they arrive, can often be handled by a desktop labeling machine. Production labeling can typically require large numbers of labels, requiring that a heavy-duty machine be used.
